May 26, 2020

As an update to my previous letter, I want to first thank you all for your consideration, patience and healthy habits during these challenging times.

I know that some of you may be wondering when Barrie Housing offices will be open and when we will be completing your non-essential but important maintenance requests.

Although I can understand the potential anticipation, we must ensure that our non-essential services only commence when it is safe to do so and when the City of Barrie Health Unit is able to provide us feedback that allows for such an opening.

As a result, until June 15th, 2020 head office, all other offices and community rooms will remain closed.

All maintenance work orders that are non-essential and non-emergency will be put on hold until June 15, 2020. Staff and contractors will only be entering units to complete emergency work orders and prior to the visit, we will be asking some pre-screening questions to determine safety. During this time, our cleaning staff are working extra hard to ensure that our buildings are sanitized several times a day.

If you have an emergency work order, please contact our call centre at (705)-739-4369. Please note that emergencies include loss of heat, loss of power, loss of water, water leakage, floods and sewer back up.

If you have a non-emergency maintenance request, please call (705) 727-1101 extension 333 and follow the instructions to leave a message or fill out a maintenance request on

We will also be going through another rental payment period on June 1st . Please see below for several options on how to pay your rent.

We also ask that during this time, you are considerate of our communities. Please follow guidelines around social isolation and when out in public, ensure that you practice social distancing. We would also ask that you limit the number of guests in your homes as per Ontario Regulation 52/20 which prohibits gatherings of five (5) people or more. We must all do our part in ensuring the safety and health of ourselves as well our neighbours. Thank you for your consideration and patience during this time.
